Are you thinking of holding an event in November for the Archives Awareness
Campaign? Are you based in one of the following regions or home countries:
South West, South East, East of England, North East, West Midlands or
Northern Ireland? If so, the AAC team would be keen to hear from you. We are
looking for an event from each region to support and use to showcase the
AAC.
We already have events linked to the following projects lined up, which might
help with ideas:
Eastern Region: Slavery & Banana Cake. Northamptonshire Archives. Event to
highlight the issue of slavery and its impact locally.
North West Region: Safety in Numbers. Bury Archives in Association with
Greater Manchester County Record Office. Project to develop educational
resource for schools using the records of Prestwich Lunatic Asylum, including
artefacts from the museum.
London Region: Lambeth's Black Queer Pulse. Rukus! LGBT Archive in Assoc
with Lambeth Archives. Event to mark the black LGBT history of Brixton.
Speakers include Linda Bellos OBE, former Chief Exec of Lambeth
Don't forget to register all your AAC events on:
http://www.archiveawareness.com/contributors/register/howto
We are also looking for images of archival documents relating to the theme
(Take Your Place in History), for use on the AAC website and promotional
material. Some examples of images that we are planning on using are those of
railway workers from WW1, the Bognor Bathing Woman and images of
propaganda surrounding the establishment of the welfare state. If you have
any suitable digital images, please do let us know. This is a good opportunity
to promote your archives!
We look forward to hearing from you
