Project Archivist, Kingsley Hall Community Centre
Part-time (0.8), January-June, £25,000 pro rata
The post is based at Kingsley Hall in Dagenham.
Following a successful Heritage Lottery Fund application, Kingsley Hall
Community Centre in Bromley-by-Bow is offering an experienced and
enthusiastic archivist a unique opportunity to plan and deliver the key strand
of an inspiring community heritage project.
Two Kingsley Halls, in Bow and Dagenham, were founded by Muriel (1895-
1968) and Doris Lester - Christian socialists, feminists, educationalists and
peace campaigners. The project will preserve, digitise, catalogue and interpret
Muriel Lester’s personal papers and develop new audiences for the archives
and heritage of Kingsley Hall.
You will lead on creating an electronic catalogue using Spokes software, train
volunteers to input item descriptions and contribute advice and expertise to
the main project. You will offer a recognised archive qualification, project
management experience and knowledge of archival cataloguing standards and
software applications. Accuracy and attention to detail, written and oral
communication skills and an ability to plan work to meet deadlines are
essential.
