Thanks for that. It's intriguing how the drug-court idea has altered slightly in most of the countries it has been tried. The Scottish Drug Courts for instance actually don't test for cannabis (and this is because the sheriffs have said they don't want them to!). They are pretty much all for high tariff offenders - which effectively means that women are significantly under-represented and the vast majority of treatment plans are methadone plus (the plus usually means counselling, health-check and/or groupwork; though the groupwork is more classes in responsible behaviour, budgetting, anger-management etc.)

Drug courts make a lot of referrals to T.Cs in New York and I believe
through out the U.S.A., depending on the charge, they will be referred to
residential or intensive outpatient.

This is one about a woman in Idaho being sentenced to a term of
imprisonment with the judge recommending that she undergoes treatment in
a TC whilst inside:

I actually get a lot of these. I don't normally post them because their
news value is pretty limited. But if there are list members who are
particularly interested in this area, please let me know. What does
strike me now that I think about it is that I've never seen one where
the defendant was in a Drug Court. Perhaps Drug Courts don't use TCs.
They certainly don't in the UK do list members have any information
about the relationship between drug courts and TCs in other countries?
I'd be particularly interested in any information from the USA.
