In addition to the Postdoc position that we have posted earlier (see also below) we would also like to invite applications for a PhD that is
available in a joint project at the University of Freiburg, Germany. The project is situated within a co-operation of the Epilepsy-Center, University-Hospital Freiburg (Prof. Andreas Schulze-Bonhage, Dr. Tonio Ball) and the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience (BCCN) Freiburg (Prof. Dr. Ad Aertsen). Based on a rare,
extensive data basis of invasive recordings directly obtained from the human brain, the candidate will analyse intracranially recorded EEG in particular from the prefrontal cortex with the aim to identify and better understand behavioural control signals in this brain regions and evaluate their usefulness for brain-machine interfacing applications.
Duration: three years, starting from now for the PhD position, 2 years full time from now for the postdoc position
Profile: Interest in intracranially recorded EEG (i.e. the electrocorticogram, ECoG).
Additional interest in fMRI is welcome but not mandatory. The candidates should have background in signal processing.
The University of Freiburg offers an excellent multi-disciplinary and interactive research environment with access to excellent research facilities.
If you are interested to work on this project in a young, interdisciplinary team please sent your application, references and CV to
