Reminder - CALL FOR PAPERS
Journal of Simulation
Special Issue: Simulation in Healthcare
SUBMISSION DATE: 31st OCTOBER 2008
Guest editor: Hazel Pilgrim, School of Health and Related Research, University
of Sheffield
The use of simulation in healthcare has increased dramatically within the last
ten years; however there is limited evidence around implementation as a result
of the work. Sharing ideas and experience of using simulation in healthcare may
facilitate successful use of this OR application within the health field. This
special issue aims to pull together novel and interesting uses of simulation in
healthcare, including service planning, disease modelling and methodological
development. Case studies or methodological pieces of work may be presented
based on local or national-level simulation modelling. Examples of papers which
could be submitted include, but are not limited to:
• Resource planning
• Improving patient flow and reducing queues
• Estimating required future expenditure
• Informing and influencing policy
• Assessing the cost-effectiveness of new technologies
• Epidemiological simulation
• Developing simulation methodology in healthcare
• Developing techniques to improve the healthcare professional’s
understanding
and confidence in simulation
• Healthcare-related simulation education issues
• Simulation tool use and development for healthcare applications
