I am also using this book with year 12 and 13. I also use the BBC website
http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/chinese/real_chinese/
and the BBC short films which are broadcast from time to time -look at BBC
schedules to see when the next broadcast is. It is also called real Chinese.
The BBC also produced some films recently called Wild China - you can buy
these on amazon.
I think that the key is to link the language with cultural stuff and history
and use some film clips to bring it all alive.

Subject: Advice needed-how to motivate year 12-13 students
Dear colleagues
I am new in teaching secondary students. I just started to teach an
enrichment course (2 hours a week) with year 12 and 13. I find it really
hard
to motivate my students. They don't seem to be interested with games. Can
anyone give me some advice? What are the best ways to get them
interested? I am using BBC Talk Mandairn Chinese as text book. Is anyone
using it ? How do you get the most out of it? Look foward to hearing from
you.
Many thanks.
