Folks:
As a result of some requests for additional cataloger scenarios, I've
added a new one [no. 6] on the DCMI/RDA Task Group wiki.
[http://dublincore.org/dcmirdataskgroup/]. Feel free to take a look and
comment, criticize, etc. I've taken a liberal view of what might be
useful for this particular scenario, but this will most likely not
surprise anyone. I've generally make an explicit note when I've gone
and done something creative. We're still open to additional scenarios,
for those of you with a yen to get your feet wet.
The scenario is based on actual stuff that I cataloged some years ago,
when I was still exercising those muscles regularly and enjoying the
challenge of older special collections. I was pleased to see when I
went back to the records that the materials have been digitized (sadly
only available behind firewalls)--all except the letter that made the
original task, and the scenario, a bit more special.
The DC-2008 meeting that ended about two weeks ago was fertile ground
for discussing some of the thorny issues about RDA, FRBR, and associated
enterprises. I expect there to be further postings describing work done
as a result of these discussions. Stay tuned.
