Subject: Don't ignore - Please sign ...
Hi
I don't normally send these types of things round but, this is for our
friend. And our children's friends. And it's URGENT! Please sign this -
it will only take a couple of minutes but could make the world of
difference for this family.

Here's their story ...
At 7am on Monday 29 September, Selina Adda and her two children Brian
(8) and Chelsea (4) Tumfour were getting ready as usual to go to St
Patrick's Roman Catholic Primary School in Wilford. There was a knock at
the door, and half an hour later they were on their way to Yarlswood
Immigration Removal Centre in Bedfordshire. From there, they will be
flown to Ghana this Friday, a country from which Selina was forced to
flee four years ago.
Selina is seeking asylum in the UK because she is betrothed to a man she
does not want to marry. Tribal customs mean that if she goes back to
Ghana, she will be forced to marry a man thirty years older. The
consequences of not doing so are life threatening. Not only is he thirty
years older, polygamous and insisting that Selina honours a promise that
she marry him, (made when she was just a child) Selina is Christian and
he is Muslim, and there is an expectation that Selina will be required
to adopt the faith of her husband. Selina's sister drank poison to
escape this same fate, and killed herself. Selina chose to try and
escape this life and fled to UK.
Selina's right to stay was refused by the Home Office in April last year
(2007). They did not accept evidence that she is in danger. But people
who make threats don't tend to put it in writing in official documents!
She and the children are afraid to go back.
We are campaigning for Selina's right to stay in the UK. We don't think
it's right that Selina should be sent to a country that she has no
future in. We don't think it's right that she should have to marry a man
against her will who already has two wives and many children. And we
don't think it's right that Selina should have to bring her children up
in a religion she does not believe in and put her daughter at risk of
genital mutilation.
Although she has built a new life for herself during the last four
years, Selina doesn't have a voice in this country - but you do. Please
use your voice urgently to support the efforts of Selina and her
children to stay in the UK. They deserve to have a life worth living.
We the undersigned call upon the Secretary of State to reconsider the
Adda case and grant the family permission to remain in the UK
