The total amount of 'gifts' to Britain during WWII from the Empire was £22
million. Given the amount of raw materials and food coming to the UK as well
as the military contributions and those of the merchant seamen, could one
argue that without the Empire (and not only without the USA) Britain would
have lost the war?
I don’t know who is talking, but I hope someone is arranging for the talks
to be recorded!
