The Wellcome Trust is the largest charity in the UK. It funds innovative 
biomedical research, in the UK and internationally, with the aim of improving 
human and animal health. 

Through its collections and services, the Wellcome Library provides insight and 
information to anyone seeking to understand medicine and its role in society, 
past and present. More than 30 000 readers visited us last year, including 
historians, academics, students, health professionals and consumers, 
journalists, artists and members of the general public.

We now have a new opportunity to develop and manage an ongoing 
programme designed to expand and deepen awareness and use of the Library’s 
collections by its academic and research communities. As Content and 
Interpretation Officer you will take the lead in the creation of new 
interpretative content to support the Library’s website, research discovery 
tools and digital collections and in the evaluation of outputs of academic and 
other research founded on the Library’s holdings. You will also be responsible 
for forging links with new audiences for the Library’s research collections, 
promoting its collections at academic conferences and other appropriate 
research based forums and developing a Library Fellows programme.

In addition to a postgraduate qualification in archives, library or museum 
studies, and several years post qualification experience, you will also need to 
demonstrate:
•	knowledge of academic/research communities within the history of 
medicine field and other relevant disciplines
•	experience of initiating and managing multiple projects including 
proven resource management experience 
•	experience in web content creation and development and knowledge 
of web resources supporting historical study and research
•	excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills
•	the initiative, drive and vision to make a difference in this role
Salary on a scale commencing £24,359 p.a. plus excellent benefits including 
final salary pension
