Dear Ms Losse and fellow listserv members,
Might I take this opportunity to highlight the existence of a list that the
Society of Archivists' Office keeps of people who have approached them
looking for work experience (see http://tinyurl.com/2tzlpf). This list is
separate from the two Work Experience Placement lists that are up on the
Society's website, as it is kept for potential employers / services who
might have opportunities such as at the Royal Botanic Garden or who need
some volunteers for a particular project. You can get hold of a copy via the
Office, which can be contacted via the details given here;
http://www.archives.org.uk/content.asp?id=498 . It is quite an extensive
list as the Office keeps the details of people for up to 6 months but
relatively few services have taken advantage of it so far - so please do so!

Subject: Volunteer needed
We are seeking a volunteer for initially one day a week to help with a
variety of tasks, including repackaging of documents and updating various
databases; training will be given on CALM. This is a great opportunity for
someone wishing to pursue a career in archives and may also interest
potential students of conservation, as there is a lot of handling involved
of original material.
We are a small team and therefore the work will be varied, and there will be
a chance to gain knowledge in several aspects of archives.
We will pay for travel expenses up to £8 per day.
For an informal discussion and/or further details please contact Michele
Losse on 0208 332 5417 or [log in to unmask]
