Hello Louise,
Hopefully I can offer a bit of advice on this as we have been struggling
with the same issue.
Firstly, where we can move to Shibboleth WAYFLess URLs, we have
contacted the service provider for one which contains the resource
specific URL eg:
English Reports (on HeinOnline)
https://shibbolethidp.bham.ac.uk/shibboleth-idp/SSO?shire=https%3A%2F%2F
heinonline.org%2FShibboleth.sso%2FSAML%2FPOST&target=http://heinonline.o
rg/HOL/secure/shibboleth-login%3Fcollection%3Dengrep&providerId=https%3A
%2F%2Fheinonline.org%2Fshibboleth
If you ignore the encoded syntax, the target= attribute includes a
collection in the URL which is taking us direct to English reports
rather than the HeinOnline homepage.
AMED (EBSCO)
https://shibbolethidp.bham.ac.uk/shibboleth-idp/SSO?target=https%3a%2f%2
fshibboleth.ebscohost.com%2fShibAgent.aspx%3fshib_returl%3dhttp%3a%2f%2f
search.ebscohost.com%2flogin.aspx%3fauthtype%3dshib%26profile=ehost%26de
faultdb=amed&shire=https%3a%2f%2fshibboleth.ebscohost.com%2fShibboleth.s
so%2fSAML%2fPOST&providerId=http://shibboleth.ebscohost.com
The defaultdb= attribute is amed
Where database sepcific URLs are possible, we have either asked the
service provider for their syntax or have got information off help pages
on their website.
OpenAthens Resources:
These ones have been more tricky to set up at resource level rather than
service provider level because we have used the Athens resource code in
the URL and it depends on whether the service provider has an Athens
resource code recorded at resource level rather than SP level as to
whether we can get direct to the resource:
Oxford Language Dictionaries Online:
http://auth.athensams.net/?ath_dspid=ATHENS&ath_action=shaauth&id=https:
//idp.bham.ac.uk/shibboleth&originProfile=4&doLogin=1&ath_returl=http%3A
%2F%2Fauth.athensams.net%2Ftrl%2F1.0%2F-%2FOUP_OLDO
This is at resource level
Whereas
Australian Education Index:
http://auth.athensams.net/?ath_dspid=ATHENS&ath_action=shaauth&id=https:
//idp.bham.ac.uk/shibboleth&ath_returl=http%3A%2F%2Fauth.athensams.net%2
Ftrl%2F1.0%2F-%2FDIALOG_DATASTAR
Goes to the platform homepage and then the user needs to select the
database.
I haven't found a way round this for the OpenAthens resources but
someone else might have done!
With all the resources, we have spent a lot of time constructing the
URLs, testing them, refining them and then putting them live manually in
our Metalib system so it has ben very time consuming.
Best Wishes
Sarah

Subject: [LIS-E-RESOURCES] Access to e-journals under
Shibboleth/OpenAthens/'single sign on'
*Apologies for cross-posting*
Hello
I'm looking from some advice, particularly from those of you using
SerialsSolutions or similar knowledge base / ERM.
We've recently moved across to single sign-on at Kingston, using
Shibboleth where we can, and OpenAthens for resources not yet ready for
the new system. Changing information at a provider level has been quick
and easy, but we are running into problems with access to titles where
the URLs cannot be easily generated or changed.
My question is this - does anyone have a solution to changing individual
title URLs within a knowledge base where you have to make changes
individually, such as SerialsSolutions? Has anyone already changed a
database-level URL and managed to effect the right changes at a title
level?
And has anyone explored asking SerialsSolutions or similar to import
changed data for them - if so, has it been effective?
Any thoughts would be welcome - including from providers who might be
able to advise us where to find information for their particular
resources to enable seamless access to continue.
Thanks very much
Louise
