The Geographic Perspectives on Women Specialty Group (GPOW) of the AAG is
pleased to extend an invitation to sponsor sessions at the 2009 AAG, March
22-27 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The purpose of GPOW is to promote geographic research and education on
topics relating to women and gender. Sponsored sessions may cover a broad
range of geographic topics including (but not limited to) those focusing on
women, gender, masculinities, femininities, sexuality, feminism, feminist
theories, and/or feminist methodologies. To list just a selection, last
year's 30 GPOW-sponsored sessions included Transnational Feminism, Violence
and the Law; Livelihoods and Globalization in Sub-Saharan Africa;
Anti-Hegemonic Thought and Praxis in Feminist Geography; The Politics and
Practices of Participatory Video in Geographic Research; and Gendered
Spaces of Body and Emotional Work.
To put forward sessions for GPOW sponsorship, please send the session
abstract, presenters' names and paper titles to [log in to unmask]
This information will enable GPOW to promote sponsored sessions closer to
the conference date.
