Yes, that's one of the bugs that's fixed by the upgrades. Two options:
Create a project and quit (without saving, or if it insists, by saving and
deleting the directory afterwards). Or use ctrl-D in the Python console
(which just quits the application immediately). Well, or you can kill the
process from an ordinary shell.
I've just finished souping up the installation script so that it finds the
relevant directories better (it seems that on 64-bit machines there are
endless combinations of lib and lib64 possibilities). But I've also added
in that when you do the installation it automatically gets all the updates
(this works only if you are connected to the internet of course).
(We're also working on the concept of binary releases. I effectively
already have one for Macs.)
