After more thought I have come to a conclusion regarding Rockhenge.
Many within archaeology have questoned whether, and like myself believe that the structure of Rockhenge, in its final phase was roofed.
I think it was.
Now after thinking about the ideas thrown up via the BBC 'Time Watch' programme I feel that the idea of a roofed structure is elemetary in concept.
The structure not only had a roof, bit also external wattle and daub walls. The sarcens are not to be exposed, not seen, they are just part of the construction of a much greater thing.
The sarcens, locally found stuff, compared to the blue rocks which are of a venerable status, are just as good as the humble brick for construction purposes not the main funtion of the place.
The sarcens are the sketal structure of the monument, not as so many have mistaken the profound monumentalism itself.
Rockhenge was a massive roundhouse, comstructionally supported by the sarcens, to appear from the outside as being the largest construction of its type ever seen on a fantastical scale to embue awe and wonder. What better to show off the fact that you, the owner/occupier is the most poweful person in the known world, at least within the limits of the world that people know you from, and theirs!
