Call for papers. 2-day colloquium to be held in Lyon, France the 5th and 6th of January 2009. Deadline for submissions 6 October 2008.
Over two days, we will consider the place of the human body as a model of perfection in different domains from the Renaissance to the Enlightenment before reflecting on modern techniques and models for the perfection of the human body. The idea is to confront these modern techniques (surgical, pharmaceutical, etc.) for improving or enhancing the human with a long tradition of the image of the human body as the height of perfection.
