I had a case of constipation caused by tiotropium - association is
definite.
This involved arrest of normal stool, so that further removal had to be
manual.
When I queried this, I was told that this is a known side-effect due to
the means of action of tiotropium, and 10 cases had been reported.
This confuses me: we use a lot of tiotropium, but this is the only case
I have come across. If it is an expected pharmacological effect, why is
it not reported more often, and why have I not seen any other cases?
Has anyone else encountered this problem, and if any of you have, how
often and what is you usage of tiotropium?
TIA
Mary
