Yes that appears to be the problem. I have managed to make voice over
work with texteditor in the Mac I was using.

Are you sure that voiceover works with Office? I know for quite some
time that it didn't and if this position has changed I'm not aware of
it.
That's a big part of the problem with voiceover - the lack of 3rd party
applications that support it.

Dear All,
I can't get the voice over utility in Mac to read out aloud text from a
word document. I am not even clear what button to press to start it
reading. The mouse over voice facility is working for buttons and other
page elements.
Does anyone have any ideas?
