Dear All,
I would like to point you attention to the following campaign:
www.yasunigreengold.org
aimed at saving the Ecuadorian population of the Yasuni from being annihilated
as a consequence of oil extraction in the area where they live. As you can see
from the web page this has been a long term struggle which is now reaching new
heights.
The biological and anthropological richness of the region is pretty obvious and
it would also be interesting to eventually find out if any archaeological work
is planned in advance of 'developement'.
Please do circulate widely. There is also a beautiful book for sale as a way to
support the campaign.
Cheers,
Umberto
