One of my favourite books on poetry is Octavio Paz's The Bow and the Lyre:
The Poem, the Poetic Revelation, Poetry and History. Another hugely
inspirational book is Muriel Rukeyser's The Life of Poetry. But it sounds
like your pile is quite high.
