I dreamed the auburn scent of soul,
a being in the starry heaven
free as the essence of a fire
transcending inhumanity,
a pleasing memory, a smile,
a butterfly from chrysalis.
No tear nor sigh so lachrymose,
potential frowning thought to teach
potential love, in this season,
shudder of poetry's desire
attempts to thrill woman or man.
No genius can form a word.
Ascend and breathe, usurp the word,
in exaltation or birdsong,
this character's consuming verse,
this anti-hero's oak and ash,
this tree of flame for which you yearn
in which may sing a lark or thrush.
(So far how so?)
