All that I can say is that it is up to the users to get their images in the
correct format prior to using them in SPM. If all the software that
generated the images is NIFTI compliant, then there should be no problems.
If not, then it is a bit tricky to guess how the voxels are stored in the
file. All the "neurological" and "radiological" stuff is a bit meaningless
for figuring this out, as these only describe something about how coronal or
axial slices are displayed in some particular piece of software.
