Having been at the receiving end of a job evaluation I fully agree with Bryan.
I think the problem is that the powers that be don't fully understand the work we do in Records Management i.e. my post was assimilated to Members Services Assistant, laughable but true. I am now awaiting the outcome of my appeal with baited breath.

Subject: Records Management Job Evaluation in Local Government
What do you think our profession is worth in Local Government?
Many Local Government Authorities have or are currently going through a job
evaluation process and it appears, from initial discussions with my colleagues,
that our profession - Records Management, is coming out of this with lowered
grades and salaries, causing upset and dissatisfaction amongst our members.
I am asking the community to band together on this and ensure our profession
is treated fairly in the Local Government job evaluation process.
I will be sending my information to the RMS (Records Management Society) in
the hope that they will take the lead in ensuring a co-ordinated approach to
establishing our worth for the job we do in Local Government.
Please feel free to send me your experiences and/or thoughts on this (offline)
and I also welcome a discussion on line if appropriate, and I will ensure the
information is passed on to the RMS to help enlighten those who appear to be
downgrading the valuable job we do.
We need to show a common front at this time.
