Patrick,
No need to omit your subsequent professional wrestling career under the name "Pat
Patterson". Roland Barthes made that activity intellectually respectable with his essay
published in "Mythologies" (1957).
I've followed pro wrestling since I was five, when my grandmother and I used to enjoy
watching "Gorgeous George" on television. Now I try to view "WWE Smackdown" for two
hours each week. It compensates somewhat for the paucity of live performance art
surfacing in the Washington DC area, though of course it's "bad" perf art unless the script
writers happen to be "on". The superstar Dave Batista is from Wash DC metro and I
occasionally dream of curating him within an "official" visual art context.
