I don't think I'm ready---if ever---to call m'sel' "Ashbery", Candice.
I liked one of his poems---four lines of it---very very much. Naturally,
I've forgotten which poem and where I saw it, and only barely remember that
it was about a hay rick (?) and flowers.
The rest I've read, as well as interviews that incessantly ask how he
creates his poems, seem as if he feels Compelled to NOT "edit" or pre-think
his work. This is magnificently effected by as much as 1/10th of most
poets' fine work, I suspect. [A rather unprovable statistic, isn't it?]
However, it's the other 9/10ths of Ashbery's work I wish he'd put in the
freezer for a bit and then thaw when that same Creative Spirit moves which
eased the 10% beauties into being.
FWIW,
Nynn
