As another Derbyshire exile, also living in Hampshire, I found the last few
contributions very interesting.
There's nothing I can add, unfortunately, but with reference to Jim
Rieuwerts' limited edition "History and Gazetteer of the Lead Mine Soughs of
Derbyshire", a much expanded work is currently being published in parts by
Landmark Publishing, Ashbourne. Part 1 was published last year, covering
Castleton to the River Wye and a further 2 volumes are planned. Given that
his original work only ran to 200 copies, the Landmark series is a "must",
running as it does to "around 500 copies". I suspect the viability of parts
2 and 3 might depend on sales of part 1...!

My particular interest, although I haven't done *any* research at all, is in
the migration of miners and their families between Cornwall and Derbyshire
(and I suspect most of it was in that direction). When I can tear myself
away from Sark's Hope (and various non-mining related research projects) I
might look into it.

Good luck!
Cheers, Howard.
