Dear IAQ-list,

I appologize for this posting, which may be a bit off - topic.

Nevertheless, please take note of the call for abstracts below, and please do forward it to anyone interested in your region.

This call is actually quite broad in its topic: "the special issues arising from the conservation of industrial cultural heritage, industrial materials, products and production equipment" where "the conference theme is conservation ...e.g., conservation methods, technological history, analysis, conservation ethics and casestories". So papers on air quality/air pollution/climate problems and their solutions for collections of industrial cultural heritage will fit just perfect. Indoors as well as outdoors!

Sincerely,

Morten Ryhl-Svendsen

List owner, and member of the scientific committee of "Incredible Industry"

Reminder - Call for abstracts

Incredible Industry - Preserving the Evidence of Industrial Society

National Museum of Denmark

24-27 May 2009.

The Nordic Association of Conservators (Danish branch) invites submissions for papers to be presented at its XVIII Conference in Copenhagen.

The theme of this conference is the special issues arising from the conservation of industrial cultural heritage, industrial materials, products and production equipment. As an illustration, the large number of objects, their dimensions, function and material complexity often present a challenge to a traditional conservation strategy. Focus is not limited to the time period traditionally considered the "industrial age", but may cover all types of mass-produced objects. The conference theme is conservation, and within this context we welcome papers within a broad variety of issues, e.g., conservation methods, technological history, analysis, conservation ethics and casestories.

Papers will be selected from the abstract submissions. A scientific committee will review all abstracts and those selected must be presented orally at the conference. A full paper must be submitted for publication in the conference postprint. For details on abstract submission please see the conference website: http://www.kongres09.nkf-dk.dk/Default.asp?ln=eng

The abstract must be submitted by e-mail no later than 1st September 2008 to: [log in to unmask]

Authors will receive information as to whether their submissions have been accepted before 1st December 2008. The successful submissions must then be written into a full paper. The full paper may be edited before publication by the scientific committee (peer review). Further details on manuscript preparation will be communicated directly to the authors.

Scientific Comittee:

Karin Hermerén - Helsingborgs Museer, Sweden

Jeremy Hutchings - University of Oslo, Norway

Hazel Newey - National Museum of Science and Industry, London

Tannar Ruuben - EVTEK University of Applied Sciences, Finland

Morten Ryhl-Svendsen - National Museum of Denmark

Yvonne Shashoua - National Museum of Denmark
