Another idea concerning the impact, not necessarily emotions. Often, horror films are completely differently perceived by teenage audiences. It might be a phenomenon comparable to rockīnīroll, punk, heavy, metal, industrial etc. music, which is regarded as noise or even an acoustic threat to adult ears. Certainly, thereīs something rebellious about it, regarding the soundtrack as well as the visual side: High screams, droning deep sounds which first were used in horror films, I believe, and visual overloads like Dario Argento films.
