I feel somewhat the same way too considering some of the negative reactions I have received by what
I can only describe as the "I'm allright jack" brigade, who seem to want Gary McKinnon to go down
not so much for the crime of hacking but for the crime of copping an Asperger's plea.
I consider myself more than a messenger however as I support Gary McKinnon's case against
extradition and call upon support for Gary McKinnon should he end up in the USA.
What kind of community are we if we turn our backs on someones human needs just because they are the
wrong side of the law. If it means that it is OK to ignore someone's AS needs in prison, then you
can see that is a slippery slope to denying them elsewhere.
Why do those who consider the Judge Rotenburg centre an inhumane institution draw the line at
criticising the US prison system, where abuse is rife (as it is in prison systems all over the
world)
Because I dare to criticise the US system I am seen as a little Englander anti American. On the
other hand it seems that some people have the attitude my country right or wrong when it comes to
these issues, which is precisecly the reason why I do not think Gary MCKinnon will get a fair trial
in the USA as he is likely to face trial by media.
