STUC Communities, Regeneration and Democracy Conference
Friday 5th September 2008,
STUC Centre, 333 Woodlands Road, Glasgow
Purpose: This conference will examine policies at all levels of
government which impact on regeneration and local democracy. The
event will also explore community and campaigning initiatives with an
emphasis on how trade unions, grassroots community organisations and
the voluntary sector can work together on shared priorities.
Who should attend? Trade Unions; Trade Union Branches; Trades Union
Councils; academics; community, campaigning and voluntary organisations.
Cost: There is no cost for the conference.
Format: The event has been split into three distinct sessions with
opening plenary and brief closing remarks. A range of speakers will
be invited from community, trade union and academic backgrounds.
The three main sessions will include approximately three 15 minute
contributions from a trade union, community and academic perspective
followed by discussion. A programme for the event is attached.
