Hardly. Paul Barford hasn’t posted here for three weeks !!
Instead, a number of members of the general public have been concerned by
Mr Welsh’s OWN account of his attitude (and possibly that of a proportion of
fifty thousand American collectors) towards UK advice, UK wishes and UK law.
Hardly an unimportant matter for PAS or British archaeology I’d have thought.
But I do agree things are out of hand. Mr Welsh has posted my postings (and
others) to at least 4 different collecting lists where I’m now subject to much
abuse ("verbal excrement" on Unidroit-L) as are British attitudes and laws.
Doing that is against Britarch list etiquette and general cultural propriety is it
not? and has in any case prompted a complex and confusing avalanche of
responses and cross postings on those sites and here.
I’m sure everyone has now decided what they think and a concerted
continuing "information" campaign from Mr Welsh is pointless. He should take
it elsewhere (to Paul Barford’s blog, where he has been invited, or to American
Collectors’ lists.) There is no-one left here to persuade I would think.
