That sounds like an interesting development Jeff, the BCS DG have done some
good stuff in the past so I hope that there is more to come in its new
incarnation. I'm sure people in this group would be interested in
developments.
What/when is the afternoon session you refer to?

Subject: British Computer Society Disability Group to become Assitive
Technology Special Interest Group
List members may be interested to know that on Tuesday the BCS Disability
Group intends to disband and split into a Special Interest Group on
Assistive Technology and a small panel dealing with inclusion issues.
In view of some of the recent discussions on this forum I would very much
like to see representatives of this part of the AT community taking part in
the afternoon session of discussion about future directions as well as in
the longer term activities of the BCS AT SIG.
Everything about the group is up for change and development!
I personally hope to work on the establishment of clear criteria and
guidance on qualifications and experience which will allow most established
AT professional to achieve Chartered status and will support the development
of present and future AT related academic courses. I also want to see AT
issues included in undergraduate and postgraduate ICT related courses.
Do feel free to contact me if you have any questions or want to contribute
or attend (and if you want to sound off!).
This is one of those moments of opportunity which needs a wider
representation - like yours!
Jeff
