Salary: £22,000 to £35,000 plus excellent benefits
Location: Leeds/Halifax, West Yorkshire
HBOS stands out as a leader in savings
businesses. We’re also among the top general
insurers with a growing reputation for excellence
in both business banking and corporate
finance. With all this in mind, resting on our
laurels just isn’t an option. We believe our
success is down to innovation, and the way we
translate that into targeted and effective
change. Our Basel Modelling Team is a case in
point. For the past four years, this part of the
business has used science and statistics to
resolve complex problems – producing models which
have achieved Advanced Status under the Basel II
Accord and which will give HBOS the edge in a
competitive market. Now, we’re doing even more
to build on our progress by hiring talented analysts.
This is the right team for natural
problem-solvers who appreciate the challenge of
making sense of the past to help drive all key
business decisions. You’ll be ready to explore
new ways of using data and have the insight to
predict the future and create accurate
mathematical models. In fact, detailed
experience in mathematical models will be essential.

This role requires a good Honours degree or an
MSc/PhD in Mathematics, Business, Science,
Computing or Engineering and ideally a background
within Credit Risk modelling and knowledge of analysis using SAS.

• You must be motivated, with excellent

• You will enjoy problem solving; using

Needless to say, you’ll benefit from all the
personal and professional development
opportunities you’d expect from a leading
company. On top of that, we offer an outstanding
benefits package that includes a salary, bonus,
pension, share option schemes, holidays and flexible working.
