The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) is a unique
organisation. The UK’s leading defence research agency, we exist to provide
the very best scientific and technical advice to the MOD and other
government departments.
Dstl has an exciting opportunity for a talented Mathematician to work on a
wide variety of interesting projects. As part of the Statistics and Information
Management team, you will use your mathematical and statistical expertise to
develop the techniques required to conduct research into chemical, biological,
radiological and nuclear defence. The results of your work will help protect
the UK Armed Forces and the civilian population and ultimately save lives.
To succeed in this rewarding role, you’ll need a relevant degree –
Mathematics, Statistics or a Physical Science – plus experience of applying
mathematical techniques. You should also have particular expertise in one or
more of the following areas: statistics, experimental design, probability, data
fusion, optimisation techniques or programming languages such as C++, R, S-
plus and LaTeX.
