The NGR that you have given places the mine in a field. Looking at the map
referred to by Tony Brooks there is nothing shown in the fields there. I
would have given a NGR of SX 314 703 - that is where the shaft is situated.
Dines refers to this mine as 'Bictonwood' and states: "A small lead mine
with a shaft on the south side of the valley three-quarters of a mile east
by north of Cheriton cross-roads, Veinstuff of hard quartz and chlorite
peach, found in the dumps, suggests that an east - west lode was worked. In
1881-3 9½ tons of 58 per cent lead ore and 20 oz. of silver were produced."

Written on the top of Dr. A.K. Hamilton Jenkin's 6-inch maps of Cornwall is
the following: - "Extensive old buildings, buddles and open shaft on north
bank of river. On south bank by ford is a large burrow and two shafts (not
open).
As this little lead mine is out of Devon, I cannot offer anymore
information, and it's one that I've not visited. If the owner's would like
someone to visit the underground adit level and survey it the Devon Mining
Club would offer their services at no cost. Please send personal email if
required to do so.
Kindest regards Chris Kelland.
