UKOLN's annual IWMW event take place in Aberdeen next week, from Tuesday to
Thursday. Once again this event is fully subscribed. However for those who
can't attend we intend to provide access to various aspects of the event to
a remote audience.
We intend to provide a streaming video of the plenary talks. This will be
dependent on the technology working correctly (there may be problems if we
receive too many requests) and the speakers agreeing to be videoed (if, for
example, they wish to tell us all about the problems at their institution,
they may not wish to be watched by their Vice-Chancellor!). Details of the
service will be provided at
http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/web-focus/events/workshops/webmaster-2008/video/
We also intend to provide a 'live-blogging' service for the plenary talks.
We hope to provide a back-channel, which could be used by remote
participants. See

If you are interested in this, we suggest you try the test page.
An IWMW Twitter ID will be used to broadcast official messages about the
event. This may be particularly useful for delegates at the event who may
wish to have information delivered to their mobile phone. We may consider
sending an early morning 'tweet' after the event dinner for those who may be
tempted to have a lie-in :-) See

A video blog about the event is available at
http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/web-focus/events/workshops/webmaster-2008/video-blog/
Mike McConnell and Mike Whymet, the local organisers, have published a video
greeting from one of the pubs on campus (which has a WiFi network). Feel
free to respond to their greeting, or any of the other video posts. We'd
love to hear from those of you who can't attend this year's event.
There's still a change to submit an entry to the Innovation Competition.
We'd welcome submissions from those of you whop have attended previous
events, but can't make it this year - there's an opportunity to win some
Amazon vouchers. See
