Our reports, "Valuing Transit Service Quality Improvements"
(http://www.vtpi.org/traveltime.pdf ), "Built For Comfort, Not For
Speed" (http://www.vtpi.org/quality.pdf ), "If Health Matters"
(http://www.vtpi.org/health.pdf ), and "Community Cohesion As A
Transport Planning Objective" (http://www.vtpi.org/cohesion.pdf )
discuss some of these issues. They emphasize that the value of
transit travel time is highly variable depending on comfort and
convenience, particularly of stops and stations, and that there is a
value to transport planning practices that encourage positive social
interactions.
