Good Morning! Can anyone help me? I have just taken on a private hospitals
contract and have screened all nurses for Hep B. On Friday, I received
results of an RGN in theatre who is Hep B positve with positve HBeAg
results. The hospital does not have a policy in place from the previous OH
provider!
I have read DOH 2007 guidelines for New HCWorkers and the NMC BBV advice
sheet. I am concerned not to over react and to calmly proceed with the
correct procedure. I am meeting the employee next week, who does not know
he/she is infected.
Please can anyone advise me on how to proceed? The step by step procedure
and how/what to tell the employee and who to refer him/her to? What about
his role in theatre? What do I do?
All/any advice gratefully received. Thank you
Regards,
Sue
