Just to clarify, I am at the stage of having pulled together our rather unstructured list of requirements, and the guidance I was after was so that I could a) give it some structure; and b) ground truth it against what others have done to make sure it was on the right lines and nothing crucial was missing. And yes, by CMS I was meaning Content Management.
I am not at this stage looking to leap into specific product suggestions/recommendations, as there is no shortage of possibilities out there. That said, it *is* interesting to see what other people are using and hear their experiences. As far as opensource goes, outside of paid work I am already running one Drupal/Gallery integration, another Drupal site, and a couple of Wordpress/Gallery integrations.
