Sue,
I have a possible solution but I have not tried yet as it is limited.
These books usually require you to register an e-mail address (as a username) and be given a password. So create a 'dummy' (but working) e-mail address and have the password sent to it. Put this information in the book. Anyone with the e-mail address (username)/password can access the extra material.
Problems:
A user may be able to change the password unless this requires access to the e-mail account.
It is of no use for self assessment/testing (unless it is possible to reset any marking feature) because the current user will start where a previous user has ended.
Allowing for these limitations I think this would work.
Note: This is my idea and not proposed nor recommended by my employer :-) .
Regards,
John Smith.
