Abergavenny / Y Fenni. Ordnance Survey maps: Explorer OL13 (Brecon Beacons National Park - Eastern area), Landranger 161 (The Black Mountains Abergavenny)
ROUTE A - CASTLE MEADOWS & ABERGAVENNY (Easy)
This will be a guided walk around Abergavenny Castle and nearby meadows, followed by a short tour of the town centre. Ideal for those with young children, or for those who either don't want to, or are unable to, walk long distances or do steps...
ROUTE B - SUGAR LOAF (Moderate)
A guided circular walk in the eastern region of Brecon Beacons National Park. The going is easy underfoot with wide, grassy tracks and no stiles; approx 4 ½ miles (7.2km) with an ascent of 1150 ft (350m). Look forward to spectacular panoramic views from Sugar Loaf's conical summit across the Usk Valley!
POST-WALK CELEBRATIONS (Optional)
We'll be taking a short drive up the A465 to Skirrid Inn at Llanfihangel Crucorney; one of Britain's oldest pubs dating partly from 1110
A minibus (£5 per person payable on the day) will be leaving from Trefforest train station's car park (near the University of Glamorgan) at 11am. If arriving independently, the meeting point will be the car park adjoining Castle Street, Abergavenny at 12pm
