Dear all

I think a few things are clear -or semi-clear! I believe that there is no detailed plan or blueprint at this stage - and that senior NLH staff and relevant staff in NICE have been in discussions over the last few weeks.

1. NLH team will move in terms of organisational home from the NHSIII to NICE.

2. This will, I'm sure, involve a considerable effort around all the HR issues that come into play when staff are being moved from one NHS organisation to another. If this has ever happened to you - then you will understand how distracting this can be - though I'm sure that NLH senior team will want to ensure business as usual.

3. NICE has its HQ in London and also offices in Manchester. I understand that the Manchester office has more space than the London HQ - but I understand nothing is agreed yet.

4. The new service is called "NHS Evidence" - I'm sure that NICE will want to make sure that the new service is branded in that way - and that there is no confusion with other names.

5. The service will be via a portal - which is being developed over the next months to be launched in April 09. My guess is that it will use all the functionality and products of the existing NLH site - but may well have a new look.

6. As Chair of NLH Co-ordinating Group I will ensure that SHA Leads are involved in the development of NHS Evidence - and will be emailing Gillian Leng to offer help, advice and support.

Hope this begins to help.

David
