**Apologies for cross-postings**
Dear all,
Some new things for your info:
1) 'Joining the UK federation: Technical pre-requisite' guide
As part of the JISC support project for publishers, Cardiff University and Kidderminster College have produced the 'Joining the UK federation: Technical pre-requisites' guide. The guide is now available at:
http://www.jisc.ac.uk/media/documents/themes/accessmanagement/prerequisiteguide.pdf
2) 'Access Management for Libraries: Joint SCONUL/JISC' Day, 13 May, London
Due to the poor quality of sound recording, the event organisers have, unfortunately, been unable to make the session recordings available. All the presentations are available online at:
www.jisc.ac.uk/events/2008/05/jiscsconul.aspx <http://www.jisc.ac.uk/events/2008/05/jiscsconul.aspx> .
3) 'Federated Access: Future Directions' Day, 30 June, Birmingham
Thank you to all the institutions that have taken part in this event, designed to help JISC plan its new Capital Programme. All the presentations (except for the Cuckoo project that will be uploaded at 5pm) are now available at:
www.jisc.ac.uk/whatwedo/themes/access_management/federation/federation_events/programmtgjune08.aspx <http://www.jisc.ac.uk/whatwedo/themes/access_management/federation/federation_events/programmtgjune08.aspx>
The sound recordings will follow shortly.
4) Shibboleth 2.0 Installfest, 1-2 July, Birmingham
The course material and presentations are now available:

5) JISC advice for service providers
JISC has recently prepared some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for publishers and service providers. The FAQs can be found here:
www.jisc.ac.uk/whatwedo/themes/access_management/federation/publisherfaq.aspx <http://www.jisc.ac.uk/whatwedo/themes/access_management/federation/publisherfaq.aspx>
A number of UK institutions have commented on the disparity between the terminology used on different publishers' login pages, e.g. 'Login via Shibboleth', 'Login via the UK federation', 'Login via your home organisation' and publishers' customised WAYFs. JISC plans to do some work in this area to find out which terminology and WAYF designs are most user friendly, but in the meantime JISC has provided some general advice and guidance:

6) EduComs and Rock Backpages are now available via the UK federation
Thank you,
