Hello,
I am writing to introduce myself to the list. I am currently writing up my dissertation for
an MSc in Law and Anthropology at the London School of Economics.
I am mainly getting involved with the list to pick up some pointers as to how to go about
finding an internship/research assistant position on an international boundary dispute
body, although the discussion here has captivated my attention.
At undergraduate level I did some part-time administrative work for a member and legal
adviser to UN, Cameroon-Nigeria Mixed Commission, and it was this work that initially
sparked my interest.
During my postgraduate degree I undertook Simon Roberts Alternative Dispute Resolution
course, which I enjoyed immensely. Within this Christine Chinkin took several lectures on
international dispute resolution and this has solidified my old interest in this area.
However finding a firm who specializes in this area is very difficult and NGO work is near
impossible to get into.
I was mainly wondering if anyone had any suggestions or know of anyone I would be able
to talk to regarding this. It is quite a specialized area of expertise, which makes it all the
more difficult.
My parents are currently living in San Francisco so I would be very interested in
organizations located on the West coast of the US, but am more than willing to consider
anywhere in the world and am quite flexible with time and arrangements as of January
2009.
Thank you for your time,
Eleanor Scudder.
