Again, just to clarify:
The page aims to provides links to university-hosted pages about their local
NMH/PA rates where available, and will be on the ASASA website, all of which
is open to anyone to use. I don't know where the idea of a 'closed site'
came from. The beta version is up already - follow the link from the home
page http://www.asasa.org.uk
It's not intended to compete with anyone or cause confusion. I just wanted
to establish a page that maintains itself and that everyone might find
useful (including students, assessors and funding authorities), and provides
DOs who go to the effort to publish and maintain this information on their
sites with another method of ensuring people know where to find it.
I hope this clarified things.
Best wishes
Ian Francis

Hi All
It is about the time of year that Access Summit usually phones institutions
and gets the current rates. Surely it is better to have this information on
one open access site, rather than a closed one not everybody can access.
And I also echo the comments already made regarding university web pages -
it is not always very easy to maintain control, especially in a huge
institution.

Just to clarify, the existing page is on the Access Summit site, not the
'access centres' site.
http://www.access-summit.org.uk/resources_assessorsresources_perssupportrates.htm
Access Summit is the "Manchester and Salford Disability Assessment, Training
and Personal Support Centre."
The Assessment Centres site http://www.nnac.org/ does not provide this
information.

well since its there on the Access Centres site it would be relatively easy
to keep it updated rather than set up a rival site by ASASA with the
potential for confusion.
Not all HEIs have stable websites that do not change page addresses etc

Hi
Yes, but it's out of date and it's such a huge job collating all the info
onto one page I thought it might be more sustainable if people just send
links to the pages where they update the info themselves.

I'd like to ask a big favour from disability officers. When you finish
reviewing and updating your NMH costs for the 2008-09 academic year, if you
don't do this already could you please publish this information on a
separate page on your website and send me a link to that page (send it to
me, not to the list). I'm compiling a page of links to this information on
the ASASA site for assessors to use, so they can get the rates right in
reports if they can't get hold of the disability officer.
Providing contact details for disability staff on the same page could also
be helpful.
If possible, send the email to [log in to unmask] using the subject NMH RATES
and just to make it as easy as possible (for me - I don't get paid for this,
you know), in the message text state your university name and then provide
the link on the next line.
If for any reason you cannot publish this information on your website, you
could send me a simple Word document attachment with the information and I
could convert this into a page on the ASASA site, but I'd really prefer not
to do this if at all possible as it means more work for me plus there's a
risk of out of date information being left online if you decide to update
your rates or change your contact details.
If you don't already do this and want to see an example to help get started,
I'd suggest having a look at the London Metropolitan University page at
https://intranet.londonmet.ac.uk/studentservices/dyslexia-disabilities/n
eedsassessors.cfm
Others might have suggestions on how to layout this information.
Thanks in advance.
