The Veterinary Laboratories Agency leads research and surveillance projects
on a wide range of animal and veterinary public health issues of current
national and international importance.
Statistician (ADP4529): This is an exciting opportunity to use your
statistical knowledge to solve real world problems in the areas of animal
health and food safety. Situated within the Centre for Epidemiology and
Risk Analysis, you will apply your statistical knowledge to increase
understanding of animal and public health issues and provide scientific
advice to help inform Government policy. With considerable opportunity to
shape your role, you will help to identify and solve problems of national
impact through statistical consultancy and training. You will communicate
these results to increase awareness of the techniques and develop novel
methods through academic collaboration. To succeed in this interesting
role, you will require a degree in a mathematical subject with a
significant statistical component and have experience using statistical
packages. A postgraduate qualification in statistics (or the desire to
obtain one) would be an advantage. You will be self-motivated with a
strong aptitude for solving complex scientific problems, and enjoy working
in cross-disciplinary teams. Finally, excellent communication skills are
essential, as is a flexible approach to respond to changing requirements
and deadlines. This is a permanent post in Pay Band D - £23,150 to £32,100
per annum.
This post is full-time (may be suitable for two part-time staff if
continuity could be arranged) The Civil Service offers a choice of either
