POST 2: EPIDEMIOLOGIST; Grade 7: £27,466-£33,780 per annum
Fixed term post to funded until 31 August 2011 by the Health and Safety
Executive
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral researcher to work on a
project investigating the relationship between shift work and disease.
The project aims to collect information on patterns of shift work (using
questionnaires and biological samples) from two large cohort studies in
the Cancer Epidemiology Unit. We will investigate whether or not
patterns of shift work are associated with other risk factors for common
diseases, how shift work patterns are associated with biological markers
(both of disease and of circadian disruption), and the association
between shift work and chronic disease.
The post holder will take responsibility for the day-to-day management
and implementation of the project. This will involve working with both
the Million Women Study and EPIC-Oxford investigators to survey the two
cohorts on shift working patterns, including development of an online
questionnaire. In addition the post holder will perform analyses of the
data arising from the project and prepare papers for publication.
Applicants should have a PhD in Epidemiology, a flexible approach to a
changing environment, and the ability to work unsupervised (often under
pressure) will be essential. As a team player, you will have excellent
communication skills and a desire to drive initiatives forward to
completion.
