The Microbial Risk Assessment team has three exciting and challenging new
vacancies.
Statistical Modeller
You will have the necessary advanced statistical skills and experience to
develop predictive, inferential and/or spatial models to help in the
assessment and mitigation of the risks posed by infectious disease threats,
including those posed by emerging exotic infections and bioterrorism. You
will require a PhD in Statistics or Mathematics or substantially equivalent
experience.

Mathematical Modeller
In this two year HPA R&D funded project, you will develop mathematical
models to assist with investigations of the spatio-temporal distribution of
Legionnaires disease cases in relation to the location of environmental
sources and their control, liaising with key HPA specialists and sourcing
data to inform the models. You will require a PhD in Mathematics or
Statistics or substantially equivalent experience.

Geostatistical Modeller
You will require PhD level or equivalent qualifications/experience in
advanced geospatial statistical analysis and GIS to make major contributions
to the teams capabilities in this area in relation to infectious disease
risk assessment and mapping, particularly for emerging zoonotic and
vector-borne infectious disease threats, and in relation to changes in
climate, weather, land use, animal and human movements, and trade.

epidemiology, GIS and IT, and with key UK and European collaborators, these
posts are expected to make significant contributions to the strategic
direction of the HPA and enhance its scientific reputation.
