This position is a maternity cover contract for 12 months. Salary from £32,500 per annum dependent on experience. The Genome Campus is close to the London Liverpool St-Cambridge train line with free bus transport available at selected times from Great Chesterford or Cambridge stations.

The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is a world-leading genome research centre in the south of Cambridge. It has an expanding scientific programme dedicated to using natural and experimental genetics to understand the role of genes in health and disease.
The Communication and Public Engagement programme promotes understanding of the nature, discoveries and wonder of science and its implications for individuals and society. Programme staff work closely with Sanger Institute researchers to stimulate public interest in biomedical science and encourage informed discussions of relevant issues. These close collaborations also help to foster a community of scientists who can effectively engage with the public.
The Project Manager leads an interdisciplinary team of education, design/animation, and web development professionals to develop and deliver a diverse portfolio of public engagement projects about contemporary genetic research and issues. The Project Manager will coordinate the development process -- including expert input, audience consultation and evaluation -- and budget for multiple public engagement projects.
You should be a dynamic science communicator with experience in managing a range of public engagement projects from initiation to evaluation. You will have a science and science communication/education qualifications, and will have demonstrated your enthusiasm for and ability to engage audiences with complex scientific concepts and issues through a range of media.
