I've spotted quite a few website privacy statements that have a section
on what happens if the company is taken over. Typically these take the
form of this lifted extract:
"In the event that our business is sold or integrated with another
business the details we have about you may be disclosed to our advisers
and any prospective purchasers' advisers, and will be passed on to the
new owners of the business."
As far as I can remember there is a requirement that the data, if passed
on in this way still can only be used for its original purposes...? If
so, should such a section in a privacy statement make this clear?
